AI is giving us the opportunity to create images at zero cost. I’ve been playing with it to generate images for some LinkedIn posts.  But sometimes it really gets it wrong.  See my dialogue with DALL-E  (I needed a quarterback to illustrate something.)  Look below at the first and second to last image that DALL-E created for me.  😆

Here is the transcript of our “conversation”:

ME:  I need an image of a quarterback at the line of scrimmage deciding where to pass the ball

DALL-E:  Here are the images of a quarterback at the line of scrimmage, deciding where to pass the ball.

ME: How about having him standing up with ball in one hand and ready to pass

DALL-E: Here are the images of the quarterback standing up with the ball in one hand, ready to pass.

ME:  The quarterback is supposed to be behind his teammates and there should only be one football on the field. I know you can make this look more realistic. You are very good at this.

DALL-E: Here are the updated images, showing the quarterback behind his teammates, ready to make a pass.

ME:  Why did you put some of the quarterback’s teammates in different uniforms? Only the opposing team should be wearing different uniforms. Also, instead of removing the extra football from the  field, there are now three footballs on the field. I know you can do better. Football is played with one ball.

DALL-E: Here are the revised images, showing a more accurate football scene with the quarterback and his teammates all in the same uniform, and only one football on the field.

ME:  I’m sorry, but you repeated your earlier mistake. In football, the quarterback starts out behind his team. Please put him back where he would normally be before throwing the ball. And please have the ball in one hand and ready to pass

DALL-E: Here are the images with the quarterback correctly positioned behind his team, ball in one hand, ready to pass.

ME:  I give up. You are not following my instructions. Every time I ask you to correct something, you put back the mistakes I already asked you to correct. Can’t you incorporate all of my directions from above?

Email me if you want to see what DALL-E did with that prompt.
