The American Bar Association has just published my book Think Like a Lawyer Act Like an Entrepreneur.
In terms of marketing, I have to say… publishing a book is like shooting fish in a marketing barrel. The response has been overwhelmingly positive—honestly, much more than I expected.
As I’ve been telling people lately: if you want to have a great day on LinkedIn, just announce one of the following—
✔️ A new job
✔️ An award
✔️ A personal misfortune (in my case, totaling my car… or when my parents passed at the start of COVID—very sad, but not tragic; they were 95 and 94)
✔️ Or… that you published a book
Of course, it helps to tie your post to a career or professional point (which I always try to do).
Social media can be a powerful way to share thought leadership and offer value. But if you want engagement? Share your wins—and yes, even your challenges.
But make sure to write about something other than just yourself (e.g. the people who helped you along the way or something you learned from your misfortune.)
For me, LinkedIn is more than a broadcast tool. It’s a learning platform and a way to stay meaningfully connected with people in my network.
I appreciate the professional insights, but I’ll admit—it’s the personal stories that often stick with me the most.
