I recently discussed that with Rafael Klotz, whose career path is anything but conventional.
Rafa grew up in Argentina as a jazz musician, then moved to Israel, eventually landing in Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. But his journey didn’t stop there. He went on to earn a JD from Boston College Law School and became a bankruptcy and finance lawyer.
After several years in legal practice (most recently as a partner at Goulston & Storrs), Rafa pivoted to the business side, joining a client where he structured deals and opened international offices across Europe and South America.
Today, he leverages his extensive business and legal experience to work at the The Brattle Group as an expert witness in economic consulting, testifying on issues like corporate finance, valuations, and asset liquidation. His primary residence is now on Martha’s Vineyard.
Rafa’s story is a great reminder that your career doesn’t have to follow a linear path. With curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to explore, you can create a career that reflects your unique interests and strengths.
Thank you, Rafael, for sharing your fascinating journey — from Buenos Aires to Edgartown, with a jazz soundtrack along the way.
